In order to be eligible for a federal loans a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) have to be completed and aid is granted in relation to student need, tuition rates with the college, and other factors.  Fear not, eventually you will know the best way to handle different kinds of problems that will come about.  The application deadline is in late April, but it's best to apply much sooner.
